Skynet Internet was born out of necessity and a passion for community. In 2005, a local husband-and-wife team moved to the Gladewater area to enjoy their retirement – only to discover that high-quality internet was practically nonexistent in rural East Texas. Determined to solve this problem not just for themselves but for their neighbors, they poured their retirement savings into starting a new kind of internet company right here at home. What began as one family’s mission to get online quickly grew into a community-wide effort to bring reliable connectivity to our corner of Texas.
Our commitment to closing the digital divide runs deep. We know that a lack of internet access can hold entire communities back. A student shouldn’t have to sit in a fast food parking lot for Wi-Fi to do their homework, and a farmer shouldn’t be left without modern online tools. By extending our network into rural and underserved areas, we’re helping level the playing field. Each new tower we install and each new customer we connect means one more household has access to opportunities in education, healthcare, and e-commerce. It’s about making sure East Texans aren’t left behind in the digital age. We’re proud to be part of statewide efforts to expand broadband, but our focus will always remain on our home turf – the families and
businesses within roughly 50 miles of Gladewater that we call our community.
